Statements Of Faith & Vision
Goodman Family Ministries was founded by the Ministry of Howard & Vestal Goodman. It is the passion and vision of Rick & Dianne Goodman to continue to reach the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to proclaim His power, Love, & Saving Grace! Reaching the lost & hurting people for His Kingdom! We seek to incorporate the best of all Christian denominational traditions.
Like Liturgical Churches & Ministries, we are inspired by the might, majesty and mystery of God the Father.
Like Evangelical Churches & Ministries, we are encouraged by the friendship, faithfulness and favor that we have as a result of a daily relationship with The Son.
Like Charismatic Churches & Ministries, we enjoy the passion, presence and power of The Holy Spirit.
We are an independent, non-denominational Ministry for believers of all backgrounds. It is our desire that anyone who loves God, and who has a hunger for His presence, will feel His presence through this outreach and are welcome as we want each and everyone to become a member into the family of God!
The Holy Scriptures
(2 Tim. 3:16-17)
We believe that the Bible is the inspired, inerrant, infallible, irrevocable and complete Word of God.
(1 John 5:7)
We believe God is Triune: Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, the three in one.
The Fall of Man
We believe that man was created in the image of God, but that by voluntary disobedience he fell from perfection.
Basis of Salvation
(John 3:16; Rom. 5:8, Rom. 10:9, 10)
We believe that while we were still sinners Christ died for us, signing the legal pardon of all who believe on Him and acknowledge Jesus Christ as their Lord.
Salvation Through Grace
We believe that before salvation we have no righteousness of our own and must come to God through the righteousness of Christ.
Repentance and Acceptance
(I John 1:9)
We believe that upon sincere repentance and a wholehearted acceptance of Christ as Lord, we are justified before God.
The New Birth
(Cor. 5:17; Gal. 2:20; John 3:5-7)
We believe that the change which takes place in the heart and life at conversion is the result of being born of the Spirit of God.
Daily Christian Life
We believe that it is the will of God that we live a lifestyle that is entirely devoted to God that demonstrates a determination to be growing constantly in the Faith.
We believe that baptism by immersion, in water, is an outward sign of the inward work of salvation.
The Table of the Lord
(The Eucharist)(I Cor. 11:28)
We believe in the commemoration of the Lord's Supper by the symbolic use of bread and the juice of the vine.
The Holy Spirit
(Acts 1:8; 2:4, John 16:13a, John 14:26, Eph 4:10-11, Gal 5:22-23)
We believe that the Holy spirit was sent on the day of Pentecost, and is still sent today, to fill the believer with power, to give gifts that enable us to minister, to guide us into all truth and to provide comfort. As believers mature they begin to show the fruit of a spirit-filled life.
Moderation and Balance
We believe that all truth must be balanced with other scriptural truth in order to avoid any extreme or fanaticism, and we believe that moderation should show forth in our daily walk as a believer.
(John 4:24, Psalm 150)
We believe that "acceptable" and "true" worship is prescribed by God Himself in His Word. This embodies individual and corporate expressions of joyous praise and thanksgiving as well as reverent humbling of ourselves as an expression of our adoration of Him.
The Second Coming
(I Thes. 4:16-17)
We believe that the second coming of Christ is literal and inevitable.
Church Membership & Commitment to Worship
(Acts 16:5; Heb. 10:5)
We believe it is our sacred duty to identify and actively participate with the local and visible Body of Christ in a spirit filled bible believing church!

About Goodman Family Ministries
The following is an article that was written recently about Rick in a national magazine.
As Rick's Dad would always say, "I trust this will answer some of your questions about his life
and as the son of Howard & Vestal Goodman and a renowned, award winning producer."
Let me introduce you to the last remaining, original member of the "Happy Goodman Family". His name is Rick Goodman, and he first performed with this famous family when he was just three years old. He played the ukulele. You didn't know that did you? Neither did I until I sat down to talk with him to discuss his life in the music that he grew up on.
For years, I knew him as most of you probably did, as the son of Howard and Vestal Goodman and the drummer for the Happy Goodman Family. But did you know that since 1968 Rick has made musical contributions to over eleven hundred recordings as a musician and a producer. He produced projects with, Wayne Newton, Dolly Parton, Larnelle Harris, Bebe Winans, Cece Winans, George Jones, Sandi Patty, Vestal Goodman, Ricky Skaggs, Vince Gill, Andre' Crouch, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Della Reese, Bill Gaither, Jake Hess, George Younce, Janet Paschal, Jessy Dixon, Alabama, Newsboys, Rusty Goodman, Carman, Lee Greenwood, Wynonna, Jerry Clower, Jerry Reed, John Elefante, Michael W. Smith, The Oakridge Boys, The Statesman, The Blackwood Brothers, Dottie Rambo, Brad Paisley, The Martins, The Whites, Jeff & Sherri Easter, Bill Anderson, Jack Green, Little Jimmy Dickens, Mark Lowery, The Gaither Vocal Band, The Katinas, Russ Taft and The Happy Goodmans.
He did personal management for the Happy Goodman Family and Vestal Goodman. He founded a major record company whose artists spanned all genre's. He promoted and managed multiple tours in Christian music and produced and or contributed musically to television and video productions for CBS, CBN, TBN, INSP, TNN, and CMT networks. He produced the Happy Goodman segment (the video roll-in, lowering the lights and the instant appearance of the Happy Goodman's on stage singing gospel as only they could) of the Homecoming tour, the third largest grossing tour in the U.S. between 1994 and 2003. He also produced the "Final Stand" tour for the Happy Goodmans. More recently He produced the 38th 2011 GMA (Gospel Music Association)Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony for television and DVD distribution.
Multiple Grammy and Dove award-winning artist, Vestal Goodman, is a name greatly recognized as legendary in gospel music. Honored repeatedly as “The Queen of Gospel Music,” and being one of the founding
members of the Happy Goodman Family, Vestal has helped pioneered and lead the way for Gospel Music as we know and love it today!
Like many of the great singers in the music world today, she began her singing career in the church. Originally she desired to study for the Metropolitan Opera but being raised in church, she was destined to sing Gospel Music. Vestal has the ability to paint a picture with the lyrics of a song like no one else. Her rendition of some of the great hymns, such as Holy Holy Holy, Blessed Assurance and the Lords Prayer are sung as artistically as the great painter DeVinci painted his masterpieces.
With the formation of WORD Records in the early ‘60’s, Vestal and The Happy Goodman Family was the flagship artist to be signed to this company. As a natural step in her career, Vestal recorded her first solo album on Word Records in 1975 and to date millions of records have graced the homes of families around the world. Recently, Vestal’s friends came together for one of the most remarkable happenings in the history of music. Over twenty-three of America’s greatest singers both in Gospel and Country music gathered in the recording studio to sing with her on two dynamic projects that will forever be one of her most treasured moments. Artist such as Dolly Parton, Vince Gill, George Jones, Lee Greenwood, Sandi Patty and Bill and Gloria Gaither helped to make these recordings forever cherished.
Over a decade ago Bill and Gloria Gaither invited some of their most treasured friends to a special video taping. At that time little did anyone realize that the simple gathering of some of Gospel Music’s stars would birth a series of Television Specials and Video sales that continues to top the charts of the world wide music industry. Billboard magazine slots them number one in all genres of music! The Homecoming Tour continues to sell out each concert in America’s vast arena’s from coast to coast including the Georgia Dome, Arrowhead Pond-Anaheim, Ca, The Kennedy Center, and into all parts of the world. Each video project has achieved sales status of gold and platinum awards. Gospel Music is finding its way into more homes and more hearts than anyone ever imagined.
Bill Gaither proclaims that when you hear Vestal you are hearing the most dynamic and greatest voice that has ever been heard in Gospel Music! “Vestal is a national treasure”.
After five decades of concerts, television appearances, and speaking engagements Vestal gained momentum and unequaled recognition. With all of her accolades, it is with honor Vestal represented Gospel Music throughout the years. She now and forever more be the shining example of grace as the Queen of Gospel Music!
Thank you so much for this update, however, thank you even more for continuing the ministry of your Mom and Dad. I am 63 years old and have traveled from place to place to see your parents in concert. The thing that was most thrilling was that they believed and lived what they sung about. My dad is a Church of God retired minister at 95 and I can recognize sincerity when I see it. Please move forward on your project of providing a video of Vestal's funeral for all of us who could not be there. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND MAY THE LORD TRULY BLESS YOU IN YOUR EFFORT. PLEASE ADVISE WHERE WE MIGHT SEND CONTRIBUTUIONS TO HELP YOU IN THIS EFFORT.
God Bless You All,
- Ms. Crouse
What a wonderful memory and thanks for sharing it with us. I have listened to Vestal sing all week and I have watched numerous videos. She continues to minister and it is our responsibility to carry the torch and lift Jesus high. That is what Vestal would want us to do, although it may be difficult at times. Her funeral was such a celebration, I wish everyone could have been there. It truly ministered to me and helped me realize, we must continue to love unconditionally and to minister to those in need. Thank God for a woman like Vestal, who believed in God's unchanging word and wasn't afraid to let you know. Thank God that she touched my life and she was a big part of why I am alive today and why I am a Christian today. For that I am eternally thankful to Vestal. If I can be one tenth of the woman Vestal was, then I may make a tiny difference in the kingdom.
I submit to you, that God is with us and Vestal is in the presence of God, then she will never be too far away from us. She is in our hearts and our thoughts.

I am in my 60's and had never heard the Happy Goodman's until about 10 years ago. I didn't grow
up around Gospel music, but first heard them at a Gaither concert in Kansas City. What a sound. I
had grown up with a different kind of Christian music, which never spoke to my soul. Oh, but the
music of Howard and Vestal Goodman did! Vestal sang with such conviction and excitement, and her
love for people radiated from her as she sang as did her love for Jesus. Unfortunately, I never had
the opportunity to meet her in person, but oh how she ministered to me through that music. The
music has been encouraging through some tough times, as well as remind me that my home is really
heaven. I will indeed miss her and her music, and my sympathy goes to her family as I'm sure the
will miss her.
In Christian love,
Thank you so much for the wonderful message. I never had the opportunity to meet your mother but I have listened to her on radio and tv for many, many years. I am 61 years old and I can always remember Vestal and Howard. She was a sweet blessing to me just to hear and watch her sing. You were right she sang like she was singing to God. I loved her and never met her. Before we moved back to Florence in Sept. we could get the Gaither Reunion on TV. I watched every Sat. night. If iI could not watch I taped it and watched later. I saw her and her most precious moment with Michael English and George Jones. I wanted to meet her so bad. I even had thought about trying to call her on the telephone and see if I could just talk to her. We got our computer 3 days before she passed away. I was so disappointed. Just watching her sing gave me hope and encouragement for my own life as well as this old world of ours. Thanks for carrying on her mission. I am sure she is looking down with a great big smile.
Again thanks for your message, it is greatly appreciated.
